I've been coming to this place for almost the entire time it's existed (over seven years now, I believe). It's an unpretentious, family-run place. Is it perfect? No, but then most small businesses aren't. But the food is great, always has been. It's a bit pricey, but the portion sizes are generous (esp the noodles), and think about what the rent must be for the area and the fact they're such a niche cuisine. If you come to restaurants like this expecting a splendid atmosphere and grovelling service, it's on you if you're disappointed.
I do feel I have to defend them against most of their bad reviews. There seem to be only two kinds: allegations that they're not halal despite advertised, and that the food was simply not good. I cannot say I know for sure whether they are halal or not, but then I cannot find any evidence of them not being so. As far as I can see, it's a rumour that's been spread and repeated with no proof ever being provided. As to the food not being good, yeah look, sometimes quality will vary; if you had a genuinely bad experience, I'd believe it because there's always a chance it could happen. But the fact that so many reviews are either 5-star or 1-star tells me that there's something more going on. I think it's important to think about who these people are and what cuisine they're selling, and then think about why some people might want to ruin their business by spreading rumours and caving their rating.
